Recent Events in September

6 September – World Goddess Day

World Goddess Day is the day when we celebrate the feminine nature of ourselves and specifically we think about all those women who have made such a big influence in our lives.

Down in Cornwall, we listened to the life stories of St. Elen and St. Brigid in the reading centre in St. Nectan’s Glen.

Both St. Elen and St. Brigid are Christian saints with strong Celtic associations.

St. Elen is associated with pathways, pilgrimage, journeying and connection to the land.

St. Brigid is associated with healing, inspiration, poetry, creativity, sacred wells, and sacred water. While her male colleagues had tried to get water out of a well and always walked clockwise around the well, Brigid walked ant-clockwise around the well and behold there was a bountiful supply of water coming out of the well.

We celebrated the feminine and had a great day by the waterfall of St. Nectan’s Glen.

8 September – International Literacy Day

This was a great day to focus on international literature. Pupils read to each other in tongues and about foreign lands.
